Muller Martini Teams with Marines In Annual Toys for Tots Drive

LONG ISLAND, NY—For the fourth straight year, Muller Martini of Hauppauge joined forces with the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve to help make the holidays special for disadvantaged local children. There is nothing more heartwarming than the smile on a child’s face after receiving a new toy for the holidays, and Muller Martini employees collected hundreds of them. The company also makes a financial contribution to the program.

“It is truly an honor to be able to do what we can both as a company and as individuals to help make the holidays a little brighter for less fortunate children here on Long Island,” says Dan Denue, vice president of operations at Muller Martini. “I’m extremely proud of our employees who, as they have every year for the past four years, again demonstrated their kindness and generosity toward this very worthy cause.”

Daily News Invests in New Ferag Inserting Technology

NEW YORK—The (NY) Daily News announced that it is expanding its mailroom capabilities with the purchase of inserting equipment from Ferag. The equipment being installed includes DiscPool buffering systems for the continuous winding and unwinding of newspaper copies, and MultiSert inserting drums to enable a variety of inserts and preprints to be inserted into the newspaper. Inserted newspapers will be conveyed by UTR gripper conveyors to existing bundle packaging lines. The system will be controlled by a Ferag integrated process control system.

“The Daily News worked with Ferag and Goss, its North American sales partner, to develop a system that would specifically meet the needs of our readers and advertisers. By adding the inserting technology, we are making a very significant investment in the future of the Daily News,” says Marc Kramer, CEO of the newspaper. “Our readers and advertisers will now enjoy the benefits of daily insertions.”
