WASHINGTON, DC—The U.S. Postal Service (USPS), rebuffed by the Postal Regulatory Commission (PRC) in a motion to stay its request for exigent price relief until Dec. 15, has proceeded with the case.
Given Congressional movement toward a possible solution that could provide a plan for the USPS, preserving it as an ongoing concern, the Postal Service had hoped to take a wait-and-see approach before proceeding with the request for a an increase above the rate of inflation. The USPS could theoretically withdraw the request should Congress pass legislation that provides relief.
