Epic Fire Tears Through CA Printer
CHATSWORTH, CA—Firefighters battled a blaze at political printer Coronet Printing for about five hours Wednesday night before putting it out completely. No one was injured in the fire, though two young children in a nearby apartment building fell from a third-floor window while watching the fire, according to the Beverly Hills Courier. Both are hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries.
More than 200 firefighters were involved with extinguishing the fire, which began about 6 p.m. The flames were fueled by paper and other combustible materials.
The roof caved in during the firefight, but the masonry walls remained intact, according to the newspaper. An official with the printer told CBS2 that the company had been operating 24/7 for six weeks in advance of election day. However, Principal Lenny Slatko told the network that everything remaining in the plant had been destroyed.
