Heidelberg’s New Promatrix 106 CS Diecutter to Make Debut at GRAPH EXPO 2015
KENNESAW, Ga.—August 31, 2015—Heidelberg’s Promatrix 106 CS diecutter will make its U.S. debut at GRAPH EXPO in Chicago next month. This is the first opportunity to see the cost-efficient, automated diecutting machine in the Masterwork Machinery exhibit (Booth #857).
The Promatrix 106 CS can handle substrates from 65-lb. text to 48-pt. board. It outputs 8,000 sheets per hour, and has a maximum sheet size of 29.92x41.7", matching the format of Heidelberg’s flagship Speedmaster XL 106 press.
Short set-up times are the result of smart automation and intelligent operator support, as well as:
- Pneumatic support in the cutting and stripping station
- Cutting plate with fine adjustment
- Cutting chase with quick-lock function
- Stripping section with quick lock frames and fine adjustment
- Motorized cutting pressure adjustment
- Individually adjustable front lays
The following features enable productivity:
- Non-stop feeder
- Nonstop delivery with rolling carpet
- Elevation kit and miniature carton attachment (standard)
- Gripper reopening in case of misaligned sheets
- Adjustable, electro-mechanical double-sheet detection
The automation and support listed above provide the operator with additional time for production monitoring, speed optimization, and quality control.
The Promatrix 106 CS is the first product sold and supported by Heidelberg and manufactured by its new strategic partner Masterwork (MK). Late last year, Heidelberg announced MK as a partner for further development of its postpress packaging product portfolio. MK, the largest manufacturer of diecutters worldwide, provides an innovative product portfolio. The MK Duopress series features two platen stations in one machine, enabling embossing/foil-stamping and diecutting in one pass. The company also has developed high-end blank inspection systems for offline or inline use on a folding carton gluer. These enable print defect detection, as well as inspection of holographic images or embossing depth.
The Promatrix CS 106 is a further development of an existing MK platform, along with additional improvements and certifications (such as "GS," a German seal denoting safe operation), and will be sold, supported and serviced exclusively by Heidelberg—just like all Heidelberg Diana Smart and Diana X folding carton gluers.
"Heidelberg offers a value proposition that is unique in the industry," said Joerg Daehnhardt, vice president, Postpress, Heidelberg USA. "Our strategic partnership with Masterwork enables Heidelberg to offer a broader portfolio than ever before to the converting market. Combining the R&D focus and the manufacturing capabilities of Masterwork with the support network of Heidelberg is a winning combination. This mutual commitment ensures the availability of innovative products backed by the largest service force in the industry. Confidence and peace of mind comes from working with such a trusted partner."
