Visant Reportedly Ponders Strategic Options
July 2007
ARMONK, NY—Visant Inc. could be on the block. Reuters reported a source as saying the company, held by the private equity firm of Kohlberg, Kravis and Roberts (KKR), has engaged Goldman Sachs and Credit Suisse to explore its strategic options, including a possible sale.
According to the report, KKR will also be advised as to a possible initial public offering (IPO) of its stock or a recapitalization.
The marketing and publishing firm’s holdings include Lehigh Press and Visual Systems Inc. (VSI)—the latter acquired this past spring—both of which specialize in the production of textbook components. Visant also acquired yearbook producer Jostens and Arcade Marketing, which makes perfume samples.
