ADDISON—Avante LLC recently acquired an Océ CS650 digital press with four-color capabilities and an Océ VP1105 variable press. In-line saddle-stitching and perfect binding equipment were also installed. In other news, the company announced that James Quigley is now Avante’s sole owner, president and CEO.

BATAVIA—There’s been a significant reduction in prepress production costs at BFC Forms Services since its recent equipment upgrade, which includes adding two Agfa Avalon N8 platesetters.

SPRINGFIELD—After installing a new five-color, 40? Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 102 perfector with coater, Frye Williamson Press reported its best two months of sales in the company’s 40-year history.

INDIANA

WEST BEND—Serigraph Inc., one of the largest specialty printers in the world with annual revenues of $130 million, recently installed a Kodak Magnus VLF platesetter with the Multi-Cassette Unit option.

NEW JERSEY

CARLSTADT—A Xeikon 8000 digital press with X-800 digital front end and productivity-adapted toner technology is the latest investment at Strategic Content Imaging (SCI). The Xeikon 8000, which debuted at Drupa 2008, joins an existing Xeikon 6000 press.

SWEDESBORO—Direct Group has installed its second Océ JetStream 2200 color ink-jet press, this one with magnetic ink character recognition (MICR) capabilities. The company also acquired five new intelligent insert systems, which will afford clients new statement processing and transpromotional marketing opportunities.

NEW YORK

ELMSFORD—A new Heidelberg Suprasetter A74 platesetter and upgraded Prinect workflow system have been purchased by Jam Printing, along with Heidelberg’s Prinect Signa Station and Prinect MetaDimension technologies.

LONG ISLAND CITY—To help integrate its offset and digital printing divisions, Prestone Printing invested in a new Kodak Insite storefront system. 

PENNSYLVANIA

PHILADELPHIA—A new six-color Mitsubishi Diamond 3000LX sheetfed press equipped with a SimulChanger plate-changing system has been added at Pearl Pressman Liberty Communications Group. It’s the printer’s eighth Mitsubishi press.

WASHINGTON

SEATTLE—A super-wide (16x250-foot) mural of Seattle’s skyline, which is hanging at the SeaTac Airport’s international arrivals terminal, was printed by BIGink on a Gandinnovations Jeti 3324 solvent printer. The giant mural displays the word “Welcome” in 25 languages. 

YAKIMA—The Print Guys invested in a new two-color Heidelberg Printmaster PM 52 perfector.

WISCONSIN

HARTLAND—Personalized direct mail campaigns, sales and marketing brochures, and various other printed materials are now being produced on a new Xerox iGen3 digital production press, which was recently installed at Commercial Communications Inc.
