AT&T Ohio Seeks to Stop Distributing White Pages

COLUMBUS, OH—Could the writing be on the wall for the printed phone book? AT&T Ohio is asking the state’s Public Utilities Commission for a waiver of the rule requiring the communications giant to distribute hard copy White Pages, the residential telephone listings. According to the Columbus Dispatch, the commission approved a similar request by Cincinnati Bell. If approved, AT&T would still provide printed White Pages to customers who call a toll-free line. This move would not impact the advertisement-laden AT&T Real Yellow Pages, which will still be delivered.
