Miniature Folder Boosts Onsert Capacity

BROOKLYN PARK, MN—Competitive Folding has purchased a Vijuk–G&K V-14 commercial/miniature folder from Vijuk Equipment to help meet the demand of its small-leaflet folding business. Adding a fifth Vijuk folder helped to boost the company’s capability to produce folding onserts for its customers across the United States.

“Two hours after the Vijuk folder was delivered, I had the folder running and, within a week, we ran more than 3.5 million onserts on it for various customers,” says owner Dale Carpentiers. “The speed is possible because of the continuous-load, bottom-feed feature, and there is no downtime for reloading. That that is why we can offer our customers a good price.”

Printer Adds Prepress/Press Enhancements

EDINBURG, TX—Gateway Printing & Office Supply has installed a Heidelberg Suprasetter 105 platesetter with Prinect Prepress Manager workflow and Prinect Prepress Interface to ensure the direct transfer of print-relevant parameters from the prepress to the press setting stage with minimal waste. The company also installed a second Printmaster QM 46-2 press concurrently with the new CTP system, which images Saphira Chemfree plates.

Fast and reliable service is the primary reason why Gateway turns to Heidelberg for its equipment and software needs, according to Sonia Garcia, vice president of printing. “One technician even answered the phone while he was on vacation.”

ODESSA—ALLPRO Direct Marketing is the first commercial printer in Florida to acquire a Xerox iGen4 EXP digital press featuring larger sheet capacity to help it produce direct mail marketing campaigns, personalized invitations, postcards and other 1:1 marketing solutions.

NORCROSS—Olympic Printing, a commercial printer specializing in short-to-medium runs, has installed a new Heidelberg Suprasetter manual top-loading A75 CTP device. The shop also replaced older Heidelberg MO and GTO presses with a remanufactured five-color, 29˝ Speedmaster CD 74
press with coater. The press installation was managed by ServiceAccess, the service arm of the AccessGroup.
