TEMPE—Commercial Communications Inc. (CCI) has installed a six-color Heidelberg Speedmaster 74 DI perfector with in-line coater at its production facility here. CCI is headquartered in Hartland, WI.
BURBANK—Graphic Visions has announced the purchase of a five-color, 40˝ Mitsubishi Diamond 3000S press with in-line coating, which joins an existing six-color press that has been in production for 15 years.
SANTA ROSA—The Press Democrat, part of the New York Times Regional Newspaper Group, has ordered a new Goss four-high Newsliner press tower addition for its existing Goss Headliner offset press. The new tower addition, which includes the Goss DigiRail inking system, will enhance print quality and capacity.
DENVER—National Printing & Packaging has ordered a new Beiren 3840 web offset press from Graphic Innovators. The five-unit, one-web shaftless press will be equipped with a new 3840 combination folder for tabloid, chop and double-parallel folds.
NORTH HAVEN—The Vertis facility here celebrated its 25th anniversary in March. The facility has grown from five to more than 125 employees. The Vertis North Haven facility has also enhanced its service offering with the addition of large- and grand-format display and out-of-home advertising.
WEST HAVEN—Gist and Herlin Press recently installed a six-color Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 102 with coater. The new press joins an existing six-color Speedmaster CD 102.
FORT LAUDERDALE—The South Florida Sun-Sentinel is more than doubling the color capabilities of its Goss Colorliner presses with the addition of Colorman add-on towers from MAN Roland. Sun-Sentinel Co. currently runs five Colorliner presses to produce its namesake publication, as well as a variety of community newspapers. MAN Roland will upgrade four of the presses by replacing two existing units with two Colorman towers and adding a third high former on each of the revitalized presses.
Elk Grove—Insty-Prints reports an increase in productivity after installing a two-color Heidelberg Printmaster QM 46 last October. The press is the first piece of equipment that the shop has purchased from Heidelberg. Opened in 1984, the quick printer produces marketing materials for local manufacturers and distributors.
