PHOENIX—Steve Woods Printing opened its doors with a dedication celebration in May. Steve is the son of Frank Woods, formerly of Woods Lithographics.


SAN MARCOS, CA—Golden State Graphics recently added to its bindery a Vijuk 321-T saddlestitcher.


DeLEON SPRINGS—E.O. Painter Printing held its 100th annual stockholders and directors meeting recently. The company, which traces its origin to 1873, was purchased and incorporated by Sidney Weller Johnston, the current company president’s grandfather.

MIAMI—Color K Graphics purchased a KBA 74 Karat digital offset press with coater during Drupa.

PENSACOLA—Six Stahl B30 buckle plate folders have been installed at Pensacola Christian College.


Lawrenceville—Gray Publishing has purchased three DGM 430 four-high presses, two DGM 430 two-high presses and one DGM 1035 folder. The new presses and folder are scheduled to be delivered this month, with a projected date of mid-September to be printing. This new DGM press line will print three daily newspapers and two Sunday newspapers in the Atlanta area.


CHICAGO—The Vertis Print Solutions facility here has certified its quality management standard to International Organization of Standardization (ISO) 9001:2000.

WAUKEGAN—Binning’s Bindery Services has purchased a system upgrade to its Duplo 10000 bookletmaker from Best Graphics. It includes new automation technology and new collating towers.

WILLOWBROOK—A new Hamada RS34L-IIC press is now in operation at Marquardt Printing. It was purchased through supplier Fuller Graphix.


INDIANAPOLIS—Print Communications Inc. (PCI), a full-service commercial printer, recently installed a six-pocket Heidelberg ST 400 Stitchmaster stitcher/trimmer with cover feeder to address capacity issues resulting from what PCI President Gregory Flora terms the company’s “controlled intensive growth” over the past 12 years.


TOPEKA—Mainline Printing ordered its second KBA Rapida 105 press at Drupa. The six-color Rapida 105 Universal with coater, delivery extension and hybrid capability will ship in October.


LOUISVILLE—V.G. Reed & Sons, a financial printing and fulfillment company, is now using the EFI Hagen OA print management information system.
