To help educate printers on how to make a successful transition, xpedx—a full-service supplier of wide-format equipment, supplies and service—increased its Wide Format Solutions Summits to 28 shows at 14 new cities this year based on the success of the five summits it held in 2012.
Zoo Printing has installed its fifth and sixth EFI VUTEk superwide format printers at its Commerce, CA, headquarters facility. The two new printers have helped Zoo continue its significant growth pace, allowing the company the ability to provide very high-quality, quick-turnaround graphics on a wide range of substrates.
EFI has announced a record number of equipment sales deals during the FESPA London 2013 exhibit held last month, with attendees acquiring EFI VUTEk and EFI wide-format printers driven by EFI Fiery digital front end (DFE) systems. Xerox has introduced the new Wide Format IJP 2000 printer for the faster production of large indoor posters, signs, point-of-purchase graphics and banners. It can print high-quality, color signs in five seconds, 30-foot banners in one minute, and production runs of 200 prints in about 20 minutes.
Visual Marking Systems (VMS) in Twinsburg, OH, is reportedly the first company in Ohio, and the second printer in North America, to install an HP Latex 3000 printer. This acquisition reflects VMS’s upgrade to a third generation HP latex printer.
Industrial applications with UV inkjet are very new to the automotive industry. Agfa Graphics' Jeti large-format printing technology, and Agfa Graphics' unique ink composition, were used in producing the interior of the new Toyota Yaris Trend.
Parallax Digital in Kennesaw, GA, is reportedly the first commercial printer in the United States to install a new NURStar 305D wide-format digital flatbed system from MTL Print. Parallax adds the new technology after much success with the NURStar 304D, installed there over two years ago.
Anderson/LA, a Consolidated Graphics company based in Los Angeles, which provides leading national restaurants, retailers and Hollywood movie studios with offset print, digital print and fulfillment services, is one of the first companies in North America to operate three VUTEk GS5000r printers. The announcement was made at emerge 2013, Consolidated Graphics' annual customer solutions conference taking place April 30 through May 2 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.
Signs By Tomorrow of Plainfield (IL) has produced and installed a 65-foot-long, full-color graphics wrap for Mira, one of the largest and fastest supercomputers in the world. "Signs By Tomorrow has completed highly specialized projects before but this job reflects the pinnacle of technology for our industry, as well as our client's," said Signs By Tomorrow of Plainfield Owner James Murray.
A large demand for superwide printing led AMP Printing in Dublin, CA, to purchase a new EFI VUTEk HS100 Pro UV inkjet press at the ISA International Sign Expo in Las Vegas. The HS100 printer’s speed will be especially beneficial on some of the work AMP produces for national retailers—targeted signage requiring quick and accurate output.
