Standard Register Salisbury, MD, Plant Closure to Eliminate 76 Jobs

Standard Register told employees Thursday at its Salisbury, MD, rotary printing plant and warehouse at 600 Marvel Road, that it will close by the middle of the summer. Standard Register said Monday that separation packages will be given to the 76 workers.

The plant’s shutdown has little, if anything, to do with the health of the Salisbury area’s economy, a Standard Register spokeswoman said. It was largely a response to shrinking global demand for printed products.

Standard Register has acquired WorkflowOne in a transaction valued at $218 million, financed by assuming $210 million of long-term debt and the issuance of warrants with an estimated value of $8 million. Standard Register expects to achieve $1 billion in annual revenue and $40 million in annual savings when the integration of the two companies is complete.
