Tecnau, formerly Lasermax Roll Systems, will introduce a range of new products at this year’s GRAPH EXPO 14 exhibition in Chicago, September 28-October 1. Sharing the spotlight are the Roll 30, a thirty-inch wide web roll-to-roll solution, PageReady NL near-line cutting/stacking finishing solution for large sheet output from sheetfed digital presses, and Zero Speed Splicer u40 splicing unwinder system.
L & D Mail Masters, a $25-million direct marketing specialist, has purchased a Screen Truepress Jet520 inkjet web press to create high-quality one-to-one marketing materials. Diane Fischer, president, started the company in 1986 in her home.
Bell and Howell, a leading provider of solutions and services for paper-based and digital messaging, and Lasermax Roll Systems, a leader in automated paper handling, monitoring and processing equipment for the digital printing industry, announced that Bell and Howell will serve as a North American distributor of the WebVision digital print quality assurance system. Integrated with high-speed digital printers, WebVision systems provide 100-percent quality control at full production speed.
Tecnau and LasermaxRoll will introduce a new name and brand: TecnauGroup. Following the acquisition last year of LasermaxRoll by Tecnau, the TecnauGroup now represents products from both Tecnau (Italy) and LasermaxRoll (Sweden and USA). The TecnauGroup will demonstrate numerous new products and technologies at drupa 2012 and its systems will be found in its own stand as well as the stands of multiple industry partners.
After a lengthy analysis of existing technology, Sebis Direct has selected the Screen Truepress Jet520 inkjet web press in a dual-engine duplex, roll-to-sheet configuration. “High-speed continuous inkjet presses have long looked like the best solution for adding color to transactional documents,” explained Wes Sanders, president.
drupa will see a host of new perfect binder entries all designed to smooth the finishing workflow for both inkjet- and toner-based digital presses. All of these machines can either run in-line with the press, or in a near-line configuration.

The acquisition expands the product portfolios available from each company, and strengthens their global market presence with a combination of paper handling, processing and document finishing solutions for digital print production.
Tecnau and Lasermax Roll Systems have complementary product portfolios and geographic market strengths. They will maintain separate operations and retain their current management teams. Customers will now have access to complete paper processing and finishing solutions through one supplier able to serve both transactional and general commercial print/graphic arts requirements.
ROCHESTER, NY—Mercury Print Productions, which specializes in digital book printing for publishers in the education market, has begun installation of a Kodak Prosper 5000XL inkjet press. The press will boost its ability to produce short-run and on-demand books in color, meeting publishers’ needs in the education/textbook market.
