“The basic tenants of direct marketing haven’t changed—if you make a good offer to the right person at the right time your chance of conversion goes up,” says Govil. “What has changed dramatically is how that offer is delivered. Just a few short years ago the revolutionary new media was email. Now email simply has its place in the media mix, along with other traditional and emerging channels. Currently the hottest trends are mobile and social media, plus interestingly, and perhaps unexpectedly, the resurgence of direct mail.”
