ELKHART—Lithotone Inc. has installed a new Screen PlateRite Ultima 32000 platesetter with multiple-cassette autoloader and dual-feeding capability, which allows it to image two standard-size plates at a time, outputting up to 46 eight-up plates per hour. Lithotone also purchased Screen’s Trueflow 3 PDF/JDF-based workflow.


WALTON—The installation of a new Goss Sunday 3000 press—capable of impression speeds of up to 100,000 per hour—was completed at Continental Web Press’ Walton, KY, plant in March. To celebrate the new addition, the company will have an “Out of the Gate and Running!” themed open house in May at the same location. Guests will get to meet Triple Crown winner Steve Cauthen.


BOSTON—LaVigne Inc. has rebranded itself as LVI. Ownership of the company, which specializes in marketing and sales print collateral, has not changed.

BROCKTON—A new Gandi Jeti 1224 UV flatbed digital printer has been acquired by Sign Design. The flatbed unit has a 4x8-foot print area and prints substrates up to 2˝ thick.


VAN BUREN TOWNSHIP—The Envelope Printery has moved to a new 75,000-square-foot facility on Samuel Barton Drive and has added an F.L. Smithe SW True Web converting machine, capable of producing 1,500 envelopes per minute.


MINNEAPOLIS—A Kluge OmniFold automatic folder/gluer—configured with vacuum and friction feeders, left and right registration, high-speed automatic tapehead and a four-head hot melt glue system—is now in operation at Embossing Plus.


OMAHA—Its six-color, 41˝ KBA Rapida 105 with aqueous coater purchased in March 2007 has proved to be so fast, efficient and profitable that Printco Graphics plans to purchase another one sometime in the near future.


MOUNTAINSIDE—Print Tech has launched new Web-to-print capabilities branded as PrintFLEX Solutions.

NORTH BERGEN—A second six-color, 81˝ KBA Rapida 205 sheetfed press with coater and custom plastics package was purchased by Edison Litho & Printing. When the new press is delivered this spring, Edison Litho will reportedly be the only printer in North America to operate two of the largest presses in the world in the same facility.


TROY—Integrated Book Technology (IBT) has chosen a Xeikon 6000 digital color press, equipped with an in-line cutting, stacking and conveying system, to further enhance its book production capabilities. IBT also purchased Xeikon’s X-800 digital front end and Pantone-licensed Form-Adapted toner technology.


CHARLOTTE—The manufacturing facility of WorkflowOne located here has earned both the ISO 9001:2000 and ISO/TS 16949:2002 quality management process certifications. The Charlotte plant produces a wide range of printed products.


SANDUSKY—A new Xerox DocuColor 8000AP digital press with an EFI EX print server has been added at Loris Printing. The family owned business also owns a Ricoh MP9000 digital imaging system.

TWINSBURG—With its first digital press up and running, Oliver Printing is continuing its leadership as a technical innovator and color expert. The six-color HP Indigo press 5500 uses HP DreamColor technologies, which employs HP Professional PANTONE emulation and HP IndiChrome process printing. Replacing an existing DI digital offset press, the shop purchased the Indigo 5500 to further expand into high-end marketing collateral applications. The new press will enable the 83-year-old company to produce short-run and personalized work.


BRIDGEVILLE—After 60 years at its downtown Pittsburgh location, Duquesne Litho has moved to a new, 40,000-square-foot manufacturing plant here, and installed a new five-color Komori Lithrone S40 press with coater as part of its investment.


KNOXVILLE—The prepress workflow at Coleman’s Printing & Awards has improved three-fold with the addition of a new Presstek Dimension 412 four-up platesetter. Future plans include the purchase of a five-color, 29˝ press.


DALLAS—Cross Media has install-ed a six-color, 40˝ Mitsubishi Dia- mond 3000R convertible perfector with aqueous coater. The sheetfed offset press is also equipped with automated plate changing, closed-loop color control, and Mitsubishi JobLink and ColorLink systems.

HOUSTON—The Premier Co., a direct mail pioneer that started printing variable data digital letters and documents in the 1920s and ’30s, recently purchased a new Océ CS 650 Pro digital press. The firm’s president says the new printer is a perfect fit with Premier’s production because of its existing database experience and fine printing capabilities.


RICHMOND—All Heidelberg shop Heritage Printing Service has added a new member to its family of presses: a six-color Speedmaster CD 74 perfector with aqueous coater.


BUTLER—Western States Envelope & Label is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year and will be promoting this milestone by presenting its customers with a diorama-style letter holder (with gold embossed/trimmed products inside) depicting the first manufacturing plant. An early replica of a delivery truck is parked in front.

SUN PRAIRIE—Two new software products are being implemented at DeGolier Printing: PrintStar for job management and PagePath for online ordering, file transfers, proofing, etc.

VERONA—Production capabilities have been expanded at Park Printing House with the installation of a new six-color Heidelberg Speedmaster CD 74.
