Cary Printing has promoted Debbie Roberson to fill the position of mailing manager. She has been with the Cary, NC-based company for less than a year, but has more than 20 years of mailing experience.

Patrick O'Brien has joined Direct Group in Trenton, NJ, as vice president of sales and business development.

Padgett Printing in Dallas reports that Matt Pluta has joined the company's sales team. Pluta joined Padgett from Buchanan Visual Communications where he was a sales representative.

Baltimore-based Vertis announced that Jim Litwin has joined the company as vice president of marketing research. In his new role, Litwin now leads Vertis' Customer Focus studies and RISC programs, client research and customer care.

The Web Offset Association (WOA), a special industry group of PIA/GATF, announced the appointment of its 2005-2006 officers for the board of directors. Ralph Pontillo, Transcontinental Printing, Fairborn, OH, becomes the 35th chairman. Serving as vice chairman is Art Salayda, Evergreen Publishing and Printing, Bellmawr, NJ; and immediate past chairman is Edward Majerczak, Berlin Industries, Carol Stream, IL. Cal Poly's Graphic Communication Department has established an endowment in honor of the late Terry Bell and the company he helped build, ColorGraphics Inc. The endowment will support growth in several areas of the Graphic Communication program. It is part of the Graphic Communication Department's 2006 60th anniversary $2.5 million development program.

Dickinson Press, Grand Rapids, MI, announced that Jim Pentecost has joined the company as president, CEO and a member of the board of directors. Pentecost most recently was employed by Vertis Inc.

Franchise Services Inc. (FSI), parent company of Sir Speedy, PIP Printing and Multicopy, launched TeamLogic IT, a franchise network of computer consultation, maintenance and repair establishments designed to address the IT needs of small- to mid-sized businesses. The franchise, with locations already established in Orange County, CA, Washington, DC, Long Island, NY, and Westchester County, NY, provides customers with quick-response troubleshooting and repair of desktops, servers and online systems.

Carlstadt, NJ-based Pictorial Offset reports that Earl Dunn has joined the company as its newest Pictorial Team Leader. In this position, Dunn is responsible for coordinating customer jobs through the manufacturing operations integrating sales, production, manufacturing, distribution, scheduling and administration.

Sir Speedy has named Don and Deborah Boesch, owners of the Sir Speedy center in Waterbury, CT, Franchisee of the Year. This is the franchisor's most prestigious award and was presented during the Sir Speedy 28th International Convention held in July.

Coakley-Tech, a document management company based in Milwaukee, has purchased Mary Morgan Inc. from Gannett Co. Green Bay, WI-based Mary Morgan provides offset printing and direct mail services.

Cenveo Inc. of Englewood, CO, has announced two key promotions designed to sharpen the company's focus on customers and operational efficiencies. Keith Larson, former executive vice president, has been promoted to president of strategic sales and Rob Young, former executive vice president, has been promoted to president of commercial envelopes.
