Michigan Newspaper Closes After 174-Year Run
ANN ARBOR, MI—The final edition of The Ann Arbor News hit the streets on Thursday, ending its 174-year run of delivering the news to Michigan's fifth-largest city. The News employed 272 when its closing was announced earlier this year; roughly 60 remained when it was put to bed for the final time.
About 20 people will be employed by the News' replacement Website, AnnArbor.com, which will produce a print edition twice a week. Advance Publications, owner of the paper and its dotcom, cited the loss of advertisers behind the decision to end the daily.
