MetalFX to Introduce MetalFX for Flexo

May 2008
LEEDS, WEST YORKSHIRE—May 2008— MetalFX Technology—a Ciba subsidiary—will introduce the flexographic version of their popular metallic printing technology at drupa 2008. The process permits printing millions of metallic colors reliably and consistently.

Discussing MetalFX for flexo, MetalFX Managing Director Andrew Ainge commented: “The popularity of MetalFX among lithographic printers prompted us to release a MetalFX version specifically for flexographers. MetalFX for flexo is expected to be particularly popular among label and package printers, offering them a significantly lower cost alternative to foil stamping and metallic substrates, and enhanced design capabilities for packaging. On drupa Stand D17 in Hall 15, we will have actual flexographic printed examples of MetalFX labels and packages, as well as swatch books from which designers and prepress workers can select appropriate colors. MetalFX Version 2, for lithographic printers, remains unchanged.”

MetalFX, a recent Ciba acquisition, is a universal process and spot metallic color system that allows millions of metallic colors to be printed, all by adding only the one base silver ink to the usual CMYK mix. Ciba Specialty brings more than 40 years of experience in color matching to the worldwide graphic arts, paints, plastics, fibers and ceramic industries.
