TX Printing Startup SignItUp Takes a Bold Step into the Future of the Custom Signage Industry
DALLAS—October 15, 2014—Rick Cartwright announces the launch of an international, tech-oriented sign-printing startup, SignItUp.com. He hopes to make a mark in the tech and print industry with modern thinking and innovative ideas, via the launch of an online sign, banner, and graphic design business.
SignItUp was spawned from the preexisting successful, Cartwright family-owned, company, First Graphic Services Incorporated (FGSI), in response to the direction of the industry. Although FGSI has developed into one of the largest and most respected sign and graphic services companies in the nation, Cartwright felt the need to alter their business model.
"In one sense, SignItUp is not a startup," stated Rick Cartwright, company CEO. "Considering the fact that we are already experienced entrepreneurs maintaining a successful 30-year-old company, it is hard to label our newest direction as a startup. On the other hand, it is a startup in the digital aspect. This is something new that we have never done before."
Cartwright believes that the Web requires a new way of thinking about the business. A small number of companies in the industry are drawn toward the digital space. Cartwright noted the shift in the industry, and decided it was time to implement a new focus: launch a new brand, and essentially start from scratch with a new business model, driven to succeed in the digital space.
"Our years of experience have helped prepare us for this change," Cartwright noted. "Since 1984, we have been able to stay on top of the ongoing evolution of the industry; the SignItUp brand will enable us to build on our successful history. In order to stay relevant, we must continue to progress our business model. It has been a learning process for the team, but it is driving us further toward success. We are ecstatic about the launch."
SignItUp’s fearless entry into digital e-commerce marks the beginning of a legacy: a defining moment for the company, in an industry where many competitors are continuing to pursue the traditional business model.
SignItUp is looking to innovate the custom sign business by offering more flexibility and easy design. Customers can design their signs and banners at anytime, on their time via easy-to-use, customizable templates. SignItUp has been careful to keep a close eye on emerging trends in the industry, while innovating ways to stand out.
"It’s very important for us to understand our target audience; this will allow us to offer products to the best of our ability," Cartwright continued. "Regardless of our past success in the sign industry, SignItUp is, in a sense, a startup; we still want to bring modern, fresh ideas to the industry. We have studied the market, and are filling in the gaps by offering what others do not. This is a new brand, so we intend to establish a legacy."
