Kama Machine Opens New Horizons for A3 Finishing

DRESDEN, GERMANY—23 April 2008—A world premier: the Dresden-based KAMA GmbH is presenting the first automatic flat-bed die cutter for the A3 format. On display from May 29 until June 11 at its booth (Hall 3/D31) at the industry trade fair “drupa 2008” in Düsseldorf, the brand new KAMA ProCut 53 is a true all-rounder for the 530 x 400 mm format. This die cutter carries out applications such as die cutting, creasing, perforating, kiss-cutting and finishing with cold embossing and Braille. A hot-foil stamping module is currently being developed. “The finishing of print products is becoming a mega trend,” says KAMA CEO Marcus Tralau and forecasts: “In the growing area of digital printing, finishing will soon greatly gain in importance.” Built on the same principle as the tried and trusted automatic die cutter ProCut 74, the ProCut 53 opens up new possibilities for the fast and precise finishing of A3 sheets. Job printers, book binders and in particular digital printers who want to bring more added value into their business should make a point of taking a look at this innovative off-line solution which is being presented at drupa.

“Hybrid die cutter” for finishing

KAMA has developed some very interesting options for the finishing die cutter ProCut 74, such as the quick-change system for the hot foil module and the motor-driven cutting force adjustment. In addition to the applications which are also covered by its smaller sister, this “hybrid die cutter” is excellently suited for hot foil stamping and combined hot foil stamping and embossing, as well as hologram stamping and the highest quality hot cutting. With its minimal set-up times, the functions of the ProCut 74 can be changed several times a day, making the processing and finishing of even small print runs profitable. At drupa, KAMA will be using the ProCut 74 to demonstrate creative, high-quality applications. The company will also be presenting the new quick-change system for even faster changeovers during hot foil stamping.
