Fujifilm Demonstrates J Press 720 Inkjet Press at GRAPH EXPO

October 3, 2012

VALHALLA, NY—October 3, 2012—Once again, Fujifilm North America's Graphics Systems Division is demonstrating the Fujifilm J Press 720 inkjet press at GRAPH EXPO 2012, taking place October 7-10 in Chicago at McCormick Place South. Leading the revolution in inkjet technology, the J Press 720 is the world’s first half-size, sheetfed inkjet press. Designed for the traditional sheetfed commercial printer to aggressively compete in the short-run printing market, the J Press 720 establishes a new category within the industry and fundamentally shifts the way printers will do business. The culmination of Fujifilm’s R&D efforts, the J Press 720 includes SAMBA print heads from Fujifilm Dimatix, Fujifilm’s Rapid Coagulation Primer (RCP) and Fujifilm’s Vividia inkjet ink—all the necessary technology provided by one source.

The Fujifilm J Press 720, which will be a highlight at Fujifilm Booth #414, recently earned a 2012 InterTech Technology Award from Printing Industries of America—one of 12 awards bestowed on technologies that were deemed truly innovative and are expected to have a major impact on the graphic communications industry.

Initially launched at GRAPH EXPO 2010, the J Press 720 serves the fastest growing segment of the market—high-quality, short-run printing. The use of the Fujifilm Dimatix SAMBA print heads achieve true 1,200x1,200 dpi resolution with four levels of grayscale using two picoliter droplets. The J Press prints 2,700 four-up sheets per hour on standard coated and uncoated stocks with a maximum sheet size of 20.8x29.5” and sheets emerge from the press dry to the touch. The SAMBA print heads eliminate extensive consumable management, peripheral equipment and many other pressroom-related expenses. The J Press streamlines production workflow cycles, reduces labor and increases efficiencies associated with the production of targeted and customized marketing materials, book components, pocket folders and other commercial printing projects.

“As a leader in inkjet technology, Fujifilm has developed and employed core technologies to bring the commercial printing industry the powerhouse J Press 720 inkjet solution,” said Todd Zimmerman, vice president and general manager, Fujifilm North America, Graphic Systems Division. “The J Press 720 was designed to help commercial printers protect and improve their profit margins, build customer loyalty and win new business. Our commitment to innovation enables our customers to evolve in order to successfully compete in an ever-changing industry. The most exciting aspect of this new technology is the reaction we are seeing from our customers. The press design and configuration allows for easy integration into an existing press room. They can immediately start to realize the production advantages and the business benefits associated with removing waste, while increasing throughput in this segment of the market.”
