A Glossy, Artistic Cover Makes This Technical Journal Stand Out—2014 Gold Ink Entry
A travel poster from a time past showing a mantilla-clad woman standing outside of a chapel in an unknown seaside town in Spain, graces the cover of this week's Gold Ink Awards entry, "Hoover Digest, Fall 2013," which was entered into the Scientific & Technical Journals category. The 172-page journal was printed by Allen Press in Lawrence, KS. The text was printed on a Harris M200 web press, and the cover was output on a 40˝ Komori Lithrone S40 (LS40) sheetfed offset press.
The run length was 12,300 copies. The laminated cover was printed on Productolith 10-pt. C1S paper. And the body was printed on 70-lb. Sappi Opus Matte text.
The Hoover Digest is a quarterly publication that features art, writing on current global politics, economics, and history by scholars and researchers at the Hoover Institution, which was founded by former President Herbert Hoover in 1919 at Stanford University in Stanford, CA. Hoover was a member of Stanford's pioneer graduating class of 1895.
