A local labor union spent Wednesday morning picketing outside the Peoria Journal Star’s headquarters. Laborers Local 165 say the Peoria Journal Star hired non-union workers to dismantle the paper’s old printing press. Publisher Ken Mauser says the company respects its union relationships, as evidenced by the more than 90 full-time union employees within the company.
Picketers say these non-union workers started taking the massive press apart this week.
