Surely, if you work less you get less done. I’m certain we have all had managers who believe that we should be productive every minute of every day!
Taking breaks increases productivity
According to a study published in the European Journal of Work and Organizational Psychology, taking short breaks during the workday can help employees maintain focus and concentration, increasing productivity. Even a break of a couple of minutes can be beneficial.
However, it’s important to take the right sort of break
Spending time with a screen will generally not recharge you. So texting or spending time on social media is not a good idea. This article outlines a whole range of ideas for breaks, including daydreaming, exercising, meditating and socializing.
