New Year Ads
Nevertheless, I think this ad for Jaguar is successful. It gets your attention with bright fireworks that lead the eye to look down at the cars. Wouldn't it be nice to ring in the new year with a new luxury car? Well, it's nice to dream . . .
The design for Verlo Mattress Factory is explosive as well, with an ad for a year-end sale that incorporates simplified fireworks in the word "blow-out." This is a simple device to tie into the holiday.
This layout includes has three ads in a flyer, all with a New Year's theme, showing different styles based on the target audience. A cartoon shark is used for the aquarium to attract children. Another cartoon--this time a frog--entices the whole family to dine at Rainforest Cafe. There's also a background of fireworks. Lastly, a group of restaurants appeals to adults looking for a fine dining experience with a glass of champagne and some confetti (as well as elegant fonts).
The difference between New Year's and several other holidays like Christmas, Easter and Halloween is that there is more flexibility when it comes to the use of colors. All that's needed is the ability to convey festivity and tailor the copy and images to the target audience.
Have you run New Year's ads or promotions and, if so, how did you evoke the holiday?
