Last month, I received an email that read:
“Kindly find enclosed the following prospered superior offerings for Jim’s Print Communications latest unmatched custom printing solutions quality development to assess and advanced innovation to our newly added quality printing services approach highlighted below for your consideration accordingly.”
Yes, that is a direct copy-paste. (I only swapped in “Jim’s” for the actual company.)
My first thought? “I sure hope they’ve been hacked.”
Because if someone intentionally sent that out… yikes. That email didn’t just miss the mark—it lit the mark on fire and ran in the opposite direction.
Here’s the thing: You’re not just in the print business. You’re in the accuracy business. The be-on-time business. The clear communication business.
What you send represents you. That includes emails, proposals, LinkedIn messages, and especially anything going out under your name. Sloppy communication says, “We’re sloppy with everything.”
A few quick rules:
- Always proofread. Twice.
- Use a second set of eyes when it really matters.
- If you’re wondering, “Is this appropriate?”—it’s probably not.
And if you ever get a job from someone who sends out messages like that? Get paid upfront.
