Aspirins or Vitamins?
Got PAIN? Generally, for a headache you can just down a couple of aspirin and, shortly, the pain subsides. Soon, even the memory of the pain is gone and things seem to get back to normal.
On the other hand, taking vitamins in order to feel better may take months before you notice any improvement. Even when taking the multi-multi-“big gun” type vitamins! But, in a month or so, there are noticeable, even powerful improvements!
Okay, so what does a business owner or manager do when the PAIN OF DISORGANITIS strikes, due to errors and other system-busting events? The usual way to handle that pain—and it is a PAIN!—is to find a quick fix.
Like taking an aspirin, by “simply” and quickly correcting the error, the pain seems to subside, and soon even the memory of the error is lost. It's like it never even happened…
…until it happens again, and again and AGAIN!
However, as for those “health freaks” among us who want to avoid pain in the first place—this group looks for preventive solutions, NOT just quick fixes, to keep fit and running at maximum efficiently.
These owner/managers put their business on a daily dose of vitamin ‘S’—you guessed it, SYSTEMS!
They research root causes of errors, bottlenecks, miscommunications and other pain-causing events in their business, by developing and improving systems that work more like vitamins—they may take a while to work, but in the long run, the business becomes healthy and able to sustain the attacks of a sick economy and the many other business bugs looking for an immune-deficient business to take down.
Too many “aspirins” are known to drain the lifeblood right out of a business!
So, what’s it going to be for your business—the aspirin or the vitamin?
Did I mention? Great Systems work!
