An Inside View of Affinity Express
You see, I joined Affinity Express just a couple of months ago. Not only am I new to the company, but also to the industry. I’ve spent much of the last several weeks looking around me wide-eyed (and listening wide-eared). So in my second post here, I’m going to tell you about my initial impressions at Affinity Express.
I spent much of my first week feeling overwhelmed. I was trying to learn about the company and the business, and there was so much to learn! Apart from the busy (and buzzing! what with the friendly chatter on the floor and the embroidery machines tucked away in a room) Graphic Services division, there is Advertising Services, Marketing Communications and Interactive Services as well; all related to the broad field of advertising and marketing design Affinity Express deals in, but each having its distinct eco-system.
Let’s talk specifically about Graphic Services in the Pune office. We’re all on the ground floor of our office building. Artwork is in a large room. Embroidery digitizing and the rest of us support staff sit along the large hall. It’s a friendly atmosphere, people shouting queries to each other as they work, and preferring to go across and talk rather than sit at their desks and send emails to colleagues across the floor. It’s nearly always busy and never empty, as people work different shifts to make sure clients are served around the clock.
I love catching glimpses of our people’s creativity as I walk around the office. There’s a designer working on a digitized embroidery piece. There’s another recreating a piece of artwork into vector format. Embroidery samples are hung all over the office. There’s one right next to my desk that has a whole lot of MTV logos in different fabrics and colors. It gives me a little thrill every time I look at it, this small piece of physical evidence about our work and the value we provide to our customers.
Ask me: what questions do you have about what goes on behind the scenes at Affinity Express?
