I won’t spend a lot of time setting this up because I don’t really have time and I think you all get the picture. I will be at PRINT 13 for three days this year, which is a heck of a lot better than the four hours I spent last year at GRAPH EXPO.
I am super excited that I get to...
1. Support—This is such a great event and we can all go to emphasize that we believe in our fantastic industry. We can visit our trusted vendors to show our loyalty. We can swing by our competitors to either steal their ideas or try to sabotage their booths. (I hope you know me well enough to know that I am totally kidding about this)...or AM I?
2. Schmooze—This will be a great time to see people I hardly ever get to see, like Mary Beth Smith, Bev Burger (I hope), and hopefully some of the fine folks at Printing Impressions. I’ll also be checking out Rider Dickerson’s Print Forum event on September 11—they’ve got some cool speakers and it’s always a great industry event extolling the virtues of print to the creative community. Topping it off will be a mixer with the Great Lakes Graphics Association, where I am told there will be beer. (There BETTER BE!)
3. Pontificate—I am honored to be appearing on the Girls Who Print Mentoring panel this year—I love the idea of women sharing experiences and helping the next generation of girls who print to find their way in this industry. FYI—It always makes me feel great when a stranger comes up to me and says, “Aren’t you Kelly Mazzolli?” And I say, “Close enough.” And then they tell me that they read my stuff and think I am brilliant and we both agree wholeheartedly that I am.
4. Learn—This show is known for its ability to wow us. There will surely be new technology as far as the eye can see. It would behoove you to attend just so you can chat about it with clients, colleagues and competitors. S/he with the most information wins. And annoys. But mostly wins.
5. See Bill and Give Him SH%^&T—We don’t see nearly enough of each other, but we’re besties. And that means he treats me like a little sister, and to me, he’s the big brother I never wanted.
Hope to see you at the show—if you see me, please come up and say hello. And if I’m in the right mood? Sure, I’ll sign an autograph!
