The Southern California printing scene is taking a big hit with the loss of two well-known names in the industry. Anderson Lithograph of Los Angeles, one of the most prominent printers in Southern California, has been consolidated into ColorGraphics by its parent company, Cenveo Inc. In a letter to customers, Anderson Litho President Mark Tennant said the move is in response to the economic downturn.

 

IF THIS magazine chose to hand out an award for the biggest newsmaker of the year, the 2008 honor would go to Quebecor World (QW), hands down. One might contend that the attention, while merited, is not the type of exposure a company would want: Financing issues, trying to sell an unprofitable venture and muddling through with bankruptcy in two countries. But Quebecor World is a printer for our economic times, the No. 2 in North America at a time when market leaders (Circuit City, AIG, Lehman Bros.) have come crashing down.

LOS ANGELES—September 30, 2008—In a settlement to a lawsuit brought by John Zamora and Graphic Press, Inc., defendants Graphic Press LLC., Nogales Investors LLC., Nogales Investment Fund I, Luis Nogales and Mark Mickelson have agreed to pay John Zamora $9.2 million.
