For the fourth year in a row, the Wisconsin Sustainable Business Council named Appleton Coated a "Green Master" in recognition of its sustainability efforts in the state. Appleton Coated was the first coated mill to be certified by the Forest Stewardship Council in North America. In addition, the company increased its offering of printing papers made with high levels of post-consumer recovered fiber.

Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum has revealed four, new limited-edition type specimen sheets, sponsored by Appleton Coated. These specimen sheets are among the first artifacts to be printed at the museum’s relocation within Two Rivers, WI. “After nearly a year of packing, loading, moving and fixing, we are happy to complete the successful transition and welcome visitors to our new home,” said Hamilton Wood Type and Printing Museum’s director, Jim Moran.
