Welcoming Tomorrow’s Shining Stars
Tomorrow, Thursday, September 14, is the annual Career Awareness Day, which is tailored for secondary education students. The student assembly begins at 10:30 am, and will bring in approximately 700 students from around the Chicago area.
Every year, The Graphic Arts Education and Research Foundation (GAERF) (Booth 3967) kicks off Career Day with a keynote speaker designed to connect with the students at their level. This year’s featured speaker is Jonathan Malone-McGrew, Director of Communications and Customer Engagement at Solimar Systems (Booth 2458).
Malone-McGrew has built a reputation in the communications print and software industry for helping companies define and execute the outward communication of their unique value to their clients. Active in graphic design, web design, digital and film photography, project management, and interior and 3D Design; with a Business Degree and M.S. in Marketing, Malone-McGrew has built a successful career with a goal of making a difference.
In addition to his vocational quest to be part of the brand and marketing field of experts, Malone-McGrew also founded and is currently the Executive Director of the Bairn Foundation. This non-profit organization reflects his passion to help others achieve their dream of starting a family. The Bairn Foundation seeks to assist the surrogacy process through financial aid.
He is also heavily involved in today’s social marketing networks. You will find him on YouTube in a series of video blogs, ‘J SAID It’, sharing his sometimes-controversial opinions and experiences. Conveying his enthusiasm for cars, trucks, and anything with a motor, Malone-McGrew also contributes highlights and reviews at RealAutoReports.com. You will also find him on Facebook and Twitter via @JEMcGrew participating in #Brandchat, #PrintChat, and tweeting about printing and automotive industry news.
“Communications and Engagement,” Malone-McGrew states, “those two words summarize the value I believe I bring to the clients and customers I work with. Whether through traditional marketing, social media, or customer engagement programs, I strive to deliver the highest level of engagement, touch and value for the clients and companies I work with.”
As part of the student assembly, the first place winners of the GAERF Student Design Competition (Booth 3968) will also be presented with their awards. After the assembly has concluded, students will then have the opportunity to walk the PRINT 17 show floor, where they can learn about the industry through direct experience, meeting with the professionals of our industry, and getting the chance to see the technology and solutions that power the graphic communications profession first hand.
