Tidewater Direct Grows Client Base, Expands Capacity
CENTREVILLE, MD—August 24, 2010—Tidewater Direct announced this week both the expansion of their transportation fleet as well as their world class bindery in an effort to meet increased demand. Recently the company has expanded its customer base with several new direct mail printing client wins in Q2 2010. Additionally, Tidewater has seen an expansion in their pharmaceutical printing and folding specialty.
Spotlighting the high output cutting and folding operation, Tidewater has added two additional folders to the plant floor in Centreville, MD. In particular the company has added a 4th Stahl high speed conventional folder with a VSA stacker as well as a 4th specialized pharmaceutical folder. Both machines have been delivered, installed and are producing, The Centreville facility now boasts 12 folders in operation, with the capacity to fold over 5 million pieces per day at full strength.
Commenting on the folding equipment is Geoff Eisenberg, Vice President of Operations for Tidewater Direct, “We continue to win new business in the market place as few companies are able to run as efficiently as we do. This expansion of our Centreville bindery operation reflects Tidewaters ability to quickly invest capital dollars when it’s to the benefit of our customer’s and is in step with our core competency." Geoff actively takes a roll in the operation of all 3 of Tidewater’s facilities, and is directly responsible for the Centreville, Maryland plant.
As controlling distribution is key to making on time deliveries, Tidewater Direct has expanded it fleet by adding a third Peterbuilt 387 semi-truck. This additional truck increases internal capacity by 50%, ensuring that the company can shoulder a greater proportion of the logistic work required to make tight delivery time frames needed by customers. This truck, dispatched from the Centreville facility, is suited to make regional and cross-country runs, expanding the reach of the growing printer.
