NILES, IL–Graphic Technologies, a JohnsByrne company, recently added a Bobst VisionFoil 104 hot foil stamping press and a high-speed Bobst VisionFold 110-A2 CS folder/gluer to its finishing facility here. They are the first newest generation Bobst converting machines of their kind installed in North America.
“Decorative finishes continue to be a big differentiation tool for our clients’ projects, and the popularity of foil stamping continues to grow” notes Jack Gustafson, COO of JohnsByrne. “Investing in machines like the VisionFoil provides technology, efficiency and capability advantages that pass on through our operation to benefit our customers.”
The new VisionFoil 104 exceeds the combined production capabilities of the three older foiling presses it replaced. It can apply hot foil, emboss or diecut at speeds up to 8,000 sph.
The VisionFold allows Graphic Technologies to fold and glue a wide range of products, including straight line and crashlock cartons, 4- and 6-corner cartons, pocket folders, envelopes and more.
FSEA Changes Direction, Name
TOPEKA, KS—The Foil Stamping & Embossing Association (FSEA) announced a shift in the direction of its association. As of March 1, the organization’s name changed to the Foil & Specialty Effects Association, although still the FSEA.
The continuous emergence of print enhancement technologies in the marketplace—such as cold foil technologies, specialty coatings, laminates and laser cutting—has created a wealth of opportunity for growth in the finishing industry, says FSEA Executive Director Jeff Peterson.
The goal is to embrace these emerging technologies, which complement foil stamping and embossing, he explains, noting that the use of foil, and its counterpart embossing, will remain an integral focus of the association.
