WINTER PARK, FL—Edward Sengel, president of Superior Printers, was so impressed with his first Roland 500 press that he installed a second one. Both systems are configured with six printing units, in-line coating and extended deliveries. The printer also uses MAN Roland’s printnet PressManager, which networks the Roland 500s to the rest of Superior’s production workflow. The second Roland 500 has perfecting capabilities.
“The 23x29˝ format of the Roland 500 takes it to the next level,” says Sengel. “Unless you’re doing oversized display posters, a large percentage of what used to be 40˝ work exclusively can now run on the Roland 500.”
Elevated Press Suited For Heavy Materials
DALLAS—Leron Blanks, owner of Blanks Printing & Imaging, stands next to his recently installed six-color Heidelberg XL 105 6LX press equipped with UV capabilities and Image Control. The new press, which is elevated for handling heavier materials such as plastic and lenticular, has reportedly opened new customer doors for the printer due to its UV capabilities and high production performance.
Blanks Printing also operates other HD presses: a Speedmaster CD 102 6LX and a Speedmaster SM 102 8PL, as well as Stahl and Polar postpress equipment.

CALIFORNIA
LOS ANGELES—An expanded business base has resulted from a recent press installation at Marrs Printing and Packaging. The new press is a six-color, 41˝ Roland 700 with in-line UV coating capabilities and printnet operating system. The company didn’t buy the Roland 700 to get into plastics printing, but its UV capabilities have enabled Marrs to enter that niche.
