Chris Madison, president of ColorGraphics Inc. in Los Angeles, has been named the PIASC Executive of the Year. He received the PIASC Ben Franklin Award earlier this month during the association’s Graphics Night.
FORMost Graphic Communications, Rockville, MD, a provider of Web-to-print services and business forms, has hired Jeff Richards to lead the company’s Web-to-print sales division in the capacity of vice president of business development.
LAgraphico, a commercial printing company in Burbank, CA, opened its doors to a team of Cal Poly graphic communication students to conduct research on printing press “fingerprinting.” The research was conducted as part of a senior project by Mark Levenson, who graduated in December. The research also helped prepare Cal Poly for receipt of a new four-color, 29˝ Heidelberg Speedmaster CD press, the same press that the team worked on at LAgraphico.
David Schawk, Schawk, Inc., has been elected to serve a one-year term as chair of the IPA board of directors. Other officers elected to serve with Schawk are first vice chair Bob Childs, DCI; and second vice chair, Gail Ludewig, TotalWorks. Kent Hatterick, Beck Graphic Solutions, is past chair; and Roni Buczynski, Vertis Inc., has been appointed secretary/treasurer. Board members Gary Stafford, Lazer Inc., and Murray Todd, Total Graphics, have been appointed to serve on the executive committee with the officers.
In Worcester, MA, LaVigne Inc. announced the appointment of Jack Perry to the position of vice president of client strategy.
Paul LaCerda has joined Baltimore-based Vertis Inc. as senior vice president of sales, advertising inserts. In his new role, LaCerda is utilizing his retail industry experience to support clients in achieving their marketing goals. Prior to joining Vertis, LaCerda worked as vice president of sales at Horizon Paper.
