The PRINT UV Conference Reveals Agenda for Its Return to Las Vegas in March
Print UV Productions has announced the agenda for Print UV 2022, the annual conference’s much-heralded 13th edition, which will reunite the industry March 16-18 at the swanky Encore by Wynn Las Vegas.
The conference’s organizers promise to make up for lost time after the pandemic forced a two-year hiatus of the annual event.
The conference brings printing and packaging executives, pressroom experts and supplier experts from around the globe together to collaborate in a relaxed, intimate environment and discuss the world of UV printing, to network, and to learn about the newest developments as well as share tried-and-true techniques.
The conference event features speakers, topics and panels ranging from experienced printers who are running the UV and LED process at their companies, to top technology experts representing inks, coatings, consumables, presses and related technology, along with industry influencers – with content that is timely and relevant to all attendees.
“Just a single, actionable idea gained from attending a PRINT UV conference can pay dividends for years to come” said Hans Ulland, Co-Founder of Print UV. “After two years of consecutive cancellations we are thrilled to be back in Las Vegas for this extremely important event for the printing industry. So much of the value comes from the in-person networking that so many of us have missed, and we have planned a special experience this year to foster it, and to mark the return of the event”.
On Wednesday, March 16, early arrivers will be greeted at 6 p.m. with a welcome reception hosted by the event’s Platinum sponsors. Attendees will reunite with industry peers and enjoy hearty fare and refreshments in a relaxed atmosphere for the first taste of Print UV.
Conference-goers are advised to come hungry Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. for a gourmet buffet-style breakfast. The official "Welcome and Kickoff" session will immediately follow.
Next on the agenda will be a timely and energizing keynote address by veteran printer Warren Werbitt, "Why UV Matters in the Crazy World of Graphic Arts."
The crowd will break at 11 a.m., followed by a first-time user’s account of how they upgraded from conventional offset printing to LED UV curing and took the technological bull by the horns.
Lunch will follow at 12:15 p.m., followed at 1:30 p.m. with a best-practices presentation at 1:30 p.m. by DJ Cabler, a print expert from WestRock Corp. He will discuss the causes of water quality and fountain solution falling out of alignment in the pressroom, and creative solutions based on decades of experience.
At 2:15 p.m., a water-treatment specialist will provide a snapshot of how to avoid the high cost of water damage lurking in UV and LED presses, and new ideas that can save printers a bundle and keep their processes running in top shape.
The next presentation immediately following will leave printers with a clear understanding of how to manage UV pressroom chemistry to consistently get the best results.
After a short break, the program will rev up at 3:45 p.m. with "UV Cannabis Packaging: Entering the Wild West of this Blue-Sky Opportunity.” A panel of early trend-setting printers in the world of cannabis packaging will share their stories, experiences, concerns and future thinking about this burgeoning new category.
Continuing the theme, a 4:20 p.m. seminar will provide guidance on the packaging and labeling side of the cannabis industry.
The social festivities will immediately kick off as the education winds down with the Print UV networking reception starting at 5:00 p.m.
On Friday, March 18, breakfast starts at 8:30 a.m., followed by some brief announcements. Sessions kick off at 9:45 a.m. with a seminar highlighting a roadmap for printers moving forward with sustainability, and how to leverage UV printing technology towards this important goal.
At 10:30 a.m., UV coating and formulation experts will provide an exciting look at the best practices in achieving spectacular coating effects. Next, an LED printing industry expert will provide tips and tricks to reach new heights with LED coatings.
Following lunch, Friday afternoon programming commences at 1:30 p.m. with a session titled “From Estimating to Finishing – Industry 4.0, Industrial IoT, Smart Data Analytics and Process Intelligence for UV and the Pressroom,” presented by Steve Metcalf of Baldwin Technology.
A full report of where UV and LED technology are today, where they’re headed next and how to make the most informed business decisions will follow at 2:00 p.m.
Jennifer Heathcoate of GEW UV will then discuss “UV LED for Packaging – When and Where is it a Fit and What Does the Future Hold?”
Additional updates to the agenda will be posted as they are available.
