Printing Industries Alliance Reports Industry Success with Digital Printing Think Tank Event
AMHERST, N.Y.—November 10, 2015—Printing Industries Alliance, the trade organization dedicated to supporting the success of the New York State, northern New Jersey, and northwestern Pennsylvania graphic communications industry, reported that their Digital Printing Think Tank held on Oct. 28 was a huge success, attracting more than 100 registrants.
The event boasted 16 sponsors and presented a panel of large and small printers that cut across the entire digital printing market and was moderated by Mark Michelson, editorial director of Printing Impressions.
A second and third panel consisted of all the important digital press manufacturers as well as digital printing support companies that represented the entire industry. These panels were moderated by industry guru Marco Boer.
All processes were discussed including toner-based and inkjet, both webfed and sheetfed. The bindery segment was well represented as well as the paper and specialty areas.
The panels were separated by a luncheon speech by TV personality and author Jeff Hayzlett who regaled the assembly with his topic of “Think Big, Act Bigger: The Rewards of Being Relentless.” All participants received his latest book of the same title.
“All concurred that the topic was very relevant, timely and very worthwhile of their participation," Marty Maloney, PIA’s executive vice president, said. "Some asked that the event be held every year and that in the future it should include content on wide-format, as well as labels and packaging.”
The participants agreed that digital printing has grown appreciably in the past few decades and is now accelerating due to developing factors like inkjet digital printing (both web and sheetfed), the market educated as to the benefits of printing digital, and the growing maturity of the use of variable data printing. All printers and vendors are now focusing on drupa 2016 to help write digital printing’s next chapter.
