PIA's Color Management Conference to Address Matching Color Across Print Processes
PITTSBURGH—November 20, 2009—This year's Printing Industries of America Color Management Conference will be particularly valuable to companies struggling to match colors printed on different substrates, using different processes. The Conference, now in its 11th year, takes place December 6-8 in Phoenix.
The pre-conference seminar, "Printing Across Different Printing Processes," will address best practices in applying color management to get the closest match possible with different presses and processes. Attendees will learn about how to handle situations and colors that pose specific problems, and how close of a match can be achieved when comparing pieces printed by sheetfed offset, flexography, electrophotography, and images appearing on websites.
To demonstrate the challenges and possibilities, a fake product and marketing campaign based on Cowboy Wine ("the only wine man enough for cowboys") was produced in advance. Campaign components include a wine label, magazine ad, promotional poster, tri-fold table advertisement, and website. All will be displayed at the Conference and used during the presentations.
This year's Color Management Conference features over 60 sessions, six distinct tracks, a state-of-the-art computer lab, and a resource area with over 30 leading vendors of color management software and hardware. Content is available for those relatively new to color management, as well as to advanced practitioners.
For years, the Color Management Conference has provided attendees with advice and knowledge to better manage color. The event is presented in partnership with the Foundation of Flexographic Technical Association. Visit www.printing.org/color to review the complete program.
