Océ Extends Support for Graphic Arts Market with Pantone Approval for Two Production Printing Systems

TRUMBULL, CT/DÜSSELDORF, GERMANY—JUNE 10, 2008—Océ, an international leader in digital document management and delivery, announces that the Océ VarioStream 9240 and Océ ColorStream 10000 full color production printing systems, supported by Océ PRISMA® workflow software, have been approved by Pantone, Inc. for use of the PANTONE MATCHING SYSTEM® colors and the PANTONE Goe™ System colors. Pantone color standards permit accurate specification and communication of colors for a variety of uses. Now with this important approval, Océ hardware and software systems guarantee the precise transmission of Pantone color information, helping ensure production security and quality, especially for distributed print centers.

The Océ VarioStream 9240 system operates with maximum cost efficiency for black and white, one or two spot colors, or CMYK four-color process printing. Users pay for only what they print while gaining the added flexibility of using only one machine running at appropriate speeds. Even when fully configured as a four-color press, the system can still print monochrome documents at 852 prints per minute, and two- and three-color documents at 353 and 231 prints per minute, respectively. This uniquely flexible approach enables customers to run a wider range of jobs on fewer machines with greater utilization of the machine. In addition, users can take advantage of Océ Job Appropriate Color with the ability to choose the best color capabilities for each job.

Demonstrating Océ digital color leadership, the 172 images per minute (ipm) Océ ColorStream 10000 press can power through over five million full-color, letter-size images a month, making it one of the world’s fastest toner-based full color presses. The heavy-duty continuous feed capacity can easily absorb the volume of multiple cut-sheet color printers. As a result, operations can consolidate their resources into fewer but more productive color devices with higher quality. With monochrome jobs running at 852 ipm and jobs that mix color and monochrome pages, the duty cycle goes even higher, providing the flexibility customers require.
