New York City’s First Retail 3-D Printer, 3-D Scanning Location
NEW YORK—December 18, 2013—For the first time, New Yorkers will have an opportunity to see, touch and experience 3-D printers and 3-D scanners in person.
On Dec. 21, 3D Heights will become the first retail 3-D printer and 3-D scanning store with a physical location that allows customers to see, touch and try out this new technology.
3D Heights is not owned and operated by a multi-national or corporation. Native New Yorker, Jerry Castanos opened 3D Heights after a successful career in the military that introduced him to 3-D printing technology. He has now returned to his native Washington Heights neighborhood and hopes to bring this new technology to the masses.
3-D technology will change the way small business owners manufacture products, bringing jobs back to the local community. In this new world with 3-D printers, every consumer can become a creator from producing toys to purses to prosthetics—whatever the imagination can conceive, a 3-D printer can produce.
The 3-D industry is projected to become one of the fastest growing sectors—a $5.2 billion industry—with annual growth of 14 percent between now and 2020, according to industry projections. Wall Street and Tech Street all agree there will be huge opportunities for jobs and new companies over the next few years.
3D Heights also offers educational classes where everyone can learn about this new 3-D technology. Educational classes in Washington Heights include:
- Introduction to 3-D designing
- Introduction to 3-D printing
- Introduction to 3-D scanning
- Investing in 3-D printing
- Start your own 3-D printer business
In addition to these classes, 3D Heights offers membership plans that allow any individual or business to take advantage of 3-D printing makers place. 3D Heights is located in Upper Manhattan in the neighborhood of Washington Heights at 4084 Broadway (between 172nd and 173rd Streets).
