Ingram's VitalSource Launches E-textbook Mobile App
LA VERGNE, TN—Sept. 27, 2010—Vital Source Technologies, Inc., an e-textbook solution provider for publishers, academic institutions and students, today announced the availability of the VitalSource Bookshelf application for Apple’s iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch.
With the addition of the new VitalSource mobile app, students and faculty can access content three convenient ways—via integrated download, online and mobile devices. Notes and highlights made on other VitalSource Bookshelf platforms are synchronized with the new VitalSource Bookshelf iOS app. The VitalSource Bookshelf e-textbook app is free and available from Apple’s App Store at www.itunes.com/appstore
Using the new VitalSource Bookshelf iOS app, the full e-textbook, student notes and highlights are downloaded to the device, making it unnecessary to be connected to the Internet to access the full content. VitalSource Bookshelf is the only digital textbook platform providing synchronization across download, online and mobile delivery methods.
“As newer devices for interacting with content continue to multiply, and academic institutions adopt digital curricula, VitalSource delivers the most innovative digital content to educators and students on the devices of choice,” said David “Skip” Prichard, President and CEO, Ingram Content Group. “The VitalSource e-textbook platform provides students with flexibility in accessing their course material when they need it, whether they're at home or on the go.”
The VitalSource Bookshelf e-textbook app supports the full VitalSource library of titles, including popular higher education textbooks, study guides and classics on Apple’s popular iPad, iPhone and iPod Touch and other mobile devices.
VitalSource is currently delivering more than 60,000 titles from the world’s leading textbook publishers, including Elsevier, Pearson, Cengage, Macmillan, John Wiley and Sons, McGraw-Hill, Wolters Kluwer, Oxford University Press, Taylor & Francis, and many others.
