Press Purchase Expands Printer's Capabilities
YORK, SC—Ambassador Packaging, a folding carton printer serving the automobile, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries, has increased its capabilities with the purchase of a six-color, 41˝ KBA Rapida 106 press with coater.
Although Ambassador has a strong presence in the large-format folding carton market, it was looking to strengthen its production of small-format folding cartons. The Rapida 106 joins the firm's existing six-color, 56˝ KBA Rapida 142, which is outfitted with a spectrophotometer color scanner.
New Perfector Highlights Plant Relocation
ALLENTOWN, PA—Gillespie Printing has installed a five-color Heidelberg Speedmaster SM 52 perfector in conjunction with a plant expansion and relocation from Catasaqua, PA, to here. The automated press replaces the company's existing Printmaster PM 52, and adds higher running speeds, faster makereadies and aqueous coating to the company's capabilities. In terms of productivity, company president David Hebig says, "We're able to produce an extra two jobs per day."

SAN DIEGO—Quantum Digital Imaging has installed a 60˝ HP Designjet L25500 printer to produce indoor and outdoor applications for advertising agencies and marketing departments. Recent outdoor projects were perforated window graphics and aluminum signs for an airport and banner stands for an aquatic theme park. Indoor jobs included promotional wallpaper for bus terminals, adhesive signs for museum-like display cases and a theater stage backdrop.
