Canon USA Expands Production Finishing Options with New Third Party Offerings
As a company with a mission to meet the latest needs of the digital production market, Canon U.S.A., Inc. is pleased to announce the upcoming availability of expanded third party finishing offerings to help provide increased production and application flexibility to our customers. Our new offerings are set to include, inline with its imagePRESS V1000 and V1350 digital toner presses, the BLM5000 series production booklet maker from Plockmatic; inline with the varioPRINT 140 series QUARTZ and imagePRESS V900 series, the Press Trim Module from Smart Dedicated Design (SDD); and for customers requiring nearline solutions the GBC Nearline Punch and Bind. These new offerings deliver solutions to support high-volume color booklet making, light production booklet making, as well as nearline wire-bound booklet making for production flexibility, respectively.
Plockmatic BLM5035/5050(S) Booklet Makers
Designed for customers with mid-to-high production volumes, the Plockmatic BLM5000 series booklet maker combined with long sheet support on the imagePRESS V1000 and V1350 digital presses enables production of high value letter landscape and photobook format booklets. To help meet the quality demands of imagePRESS V1000 and V1350 customers and deliver high-end professionally finished booklets, the BLM5000 series booklet maker supports media weights up to 130 lb Cover (coated and uncoated) and supports squareback finishing. The optional Rotator Crease Trim module supports finishing full-bleed three-sided trimmed booklets. Available in 35 or 50 sheet, staple or stitch (“S”) versions with the option of two or four stitch heads on the “S” model designed to help increase throughput and decrease turn-around times. The BLM5000 series also extends automation with waste trim transport and conveyor options to help maximize productivity.
SDD Press Trim Module
For light production, the SDD Press Trim Module with optional Square Folder offers affordable functionality in a compact footprint. The Press Trim Module delivers flat, face-trimmed booklets that help make it easy to pack, stack and handle. By applying pressure to the spine, the Press Trim Module delivers finished booklets with a lay flat professional appearance. This ability offers an outstanding solution to deliver lie-flat booklets, even for lower sheet count booklets that may not be compatible with square edge finishing. The Press Trim Module will be able to be supported inline with the varioPRINT 140 series QUARTZ and the imagePRESS V900 Series digital presses.
GBC Nearline Punch and Bind
Print operations requiring centralized finishing for work produced by different and multiple print engines will be able to leverage the GBC Nearline Punch and Bind. The GBC Nearline Punch and Bind solution features the Plockmatic VFX Feeder, which can be configured with the GBC StreamPunch VFX for shops that need a nearline solution for high volume punching; or GBC StreamPunch VFX and eWire Pro VFX for shops that need a nearline solution for twin loop finished booklets of up to 100 sheets. The VFX Feeder features two load while run, vacuum fed trays with a capacity of up to 5,400 20 lb. bond sheets with double sheet feed detection for outstanding productivity. Featuring interchangeable die sets for various hole patterns as well as perforation and creasing, the SteamPunch VFX supports single and double punch/crease functionality for a range of media from letter up to 12” x 18”. The eWire Pro VFX produces letter-size twin-loop finished booklet from 7-100 sheet inline.
These latest finishing options are among the range of high performance third-party finishing devices offered by Canon, enabling the creation of tailored and highly automated end-to-end production solutions. The integration of these systems also allows print service providers to produce a broad application mix, generating the potential for more business growth opportunities.
Availability
The BLM5000 series is currently scheduled to be available in June for inline configuration with an imagePRESS V1000 or V1350.
The SDD Press Trim is currently scheduled to be available for the varioPRINT 140 series QUARTZ in June and for the imagePRESS V900 Series later this summer including a Two-Knife Trim option to deliver full-bleed booklets inline.
The GBC Nearline Punch and Bind is currently scheduled to be available in June.
