Another Fire Strikes Quad's Lomira Plant
LOMIRA, WI—A Thursday morning fire at the Quad/Graphics plant here was quickly extinguished by employees, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported. The facility was evacuated and there were no injuries.
Emergency crews responded to the two million-square-foot plant around 11:15 a.m. While there were early reports of an explosion, the fire was put out through the efforts of Quad's employees, along with the building's fire sprinkler system, the Journal Sentinel said. The fire department was called in accordance with Quad's safety protocol, spokesperson Claire Ho told the paper.
In 2002, the Lomira plant suffered a horrific fire that claimed the life of a contracted worker and left a 10-story storage warehouse in ruins.
