Publisher Resurrects Printed Version of ‘PowerBoat Guide’
TRAVERSE CITY, MI—Dec. 27, 2010—American Marine Publishing has resumed publication of the “PowerBoat Guide” book, a popular reference tool used by yacht brokers, surveyors, and marine lenders nationwide. Featuring pictures, specifications, floor plans, and retail values for hundreds of popular trawlers, motor yachts, sport fishermen and family cruisers produced since 1980, the PowerBoat Guide is a essential resource for marine industry professionals and serious boat buyers.
“Renewing book production will mean a lot to customers who use the ‘PowerBoat Guide’ in their business,” said Ed McKnew, president of American Marine Publishing. “Like most small businesses, we were forced to cut back during the last couple of years to make it through the worst of the recession. For us, that meant reducing our printing costs, our single largest expense.
“Although we offered the 2010 and 2011 editions on CD-ROM (or as a download from our Website), our customers made it clear that they preferred the physical book for its portability and convenience. With the economy finally showing signs of strengthening, we decided this was the right time to put it back into production,” McKnew added.
Published annually, the “PowerBoat Guide” is a comprehensive reference directory for late-model powerboats, 27 to 65 ft. in length. Including factory photos, specifications, interior plans, production notes, and retail high/low values, the book provides hard-to-find information for over 1,500 new and used powerboat models. Popular with yacht brokers and marine surveyors as well as informed boat buyers, the PowerBoat Guide is often referred to as the “Yacht Broker’s Bible.”
