WINSTON-SALEM—Hutchison Allgood Printing has purchased a Sanwa 1060SE diecutter.
CINCINNATI—Bramkamp Printing has installed a complete Agfa CTP system, including Apogee workflow, Sherpa proofing and a Palladio platesetter. Bramkamp also reports it has a new Heidelberg/Polar paper cutter up and running.
Label specialist Multi-Color Corp. has purchased promotional packaging provider Quick Pak. Multi-Color will retain all 300 Quick Pak employees. Both companies are based in Cincinnati.
PHILADELPHIA—The Graphic Arts Association's Neographics 2002 award winners have been announced. Alcom Printing Group, Harleysville, PA, took the Power of Print Award for its "VLS Corporate Brochure." First runner-up was Tierney Communications of Philadelphia for its "Philadelphia Eagles SBL Mailing." Second runner-up went to Wenzel & Co. of Pennington, NJ, for "The Jersey Fresh Cookbook." Lehigh Press of Pennsauken, NJ, came in as third runner-up for the "Holt Literature and Language Arts Book Cover." Elizabethtown, PA-based ITP of USA rounded out the top five with its "Kingsley Bate 2001 Catalog" entry.
SEWICKLEY—Installation of a donated four-unit MAN Roland Rotoman web offset press in the research and training facility of the Graphic Arts Technical Foundation has begun.
YORK—The Maple-Vail Book Manufacturing Group is up and running with a new Ventura book sewing machine from Muller Martini. Maple-Vail manufactures casebound and paperback books with either Smyth-sewn or adhesive binding.
LINCOLN—New England Printing & Graphics has purchased Parker-Luther Co. of Pawtucket, RI. The union of the two commercial printers bring together more than 200 years of printing tradition.
AUSTIN—American Printing & Mailing has installed a new Muller Martini Presto saddle stitching system to increase its finishing capacity.
DALLAS—Independent Machinery has installed a Sanwa 1060SE diecutter at Premier Carton.
OREM—Full-service commercial printer Rocky Mountain Printing has announced two changes. First, it is opening a new division in St. George. The 7,000-square-foot facility will be run by Gary Bengtzen, company president. Also, Rocky Mountain is installing a six-color, 40˝ Heidelberg perfecting press.
