MANKATO, MN—Taylor Corp. is disputing the claims that its subsidiaries, 123Print Inc. and Drawing Board, infringed three patents held by VistaPrint. The patents relate to browser-based tools for online product design. Gregory Jackson, CAO and general counsel for Taylor Corp., said the suit is without merit. “Our companies have a 20-year history of assisting our customers with the implementation of e-commerce solutions, including Internet-based printing and print fulfillment,” Jackson said in a statement. “We provided our customers with these kinds of solutions well before VistaPrint even existed.” In another lawsuit, Artwork Systems Group said it is looking into claims made by Markzware that Artwork’s Enfocus preflight products

Muller Martini has launched a new digital on-demand finishing division. Andrew J. Fetherman was named manager of the new division. Fetherman was formerly product manager for Muller Martini's press division. That post is now held by Donald Geiger. Kim Graven-Nielsen has been named president and CEO of newly formed Esko-Graphics. Fuji Photo Film U.S.A. moved into violet imaging CTP technology by previewing three internal-drum systems that feature 30mW laser diodes for exposing photopolymer plates. The Saber Luxel Vx-6000 CTP handles a 29.5x26.4˝ maximum plate size and is offered in manual and semi-automatic configurations. The Saber Luxel V-9600 CTP and Vx-9600 CTP support a 45.7x37.8˝ maximum plate size and initially will be available in a fully automatic configuration. All told, 22,101 people attended the event, which featured over 500 exhibitors representing approximately 1,500 different companies and occupying nearly 1,400 booths. The Printing Association of Florida (PAF), the exhibition organizer, points to several key factors to explain the strong showing in light of recent economic turmoil.
