In conjunction with its web width reduction from 50˝ to 44˝ scheduled for late January through Pressline Services, The Columbian also selected NELA Metro lock ups to replace all of its existing locks.

The Columbus Dispatch has awarded NELA-USA the contract for automation of its plate room as well as the lock-ups and filler bars for its new 3V compact printing format project. The NELA plate automation solution for the newspaper includes three NELA VCP multi-format vision register punchbenders connected to a 32-bin NELA Sortation System.

Three-around enables the printer to print three images/pages per revolution. Benefits are higher press productivity, more color output and over 30% reduction in newsprint consumption.

OAKDALE, MN—August 11, 2008—NELA is pleased to announce the signing of an agreement with Punch Graphix to assume first-tier service & support responsibilities for all existing Strobbe benders worldwide. In Mid-2007 Strobbe bender users were notified that Strobbe (Punch Graphix) would no longer support or honor service or maintenance contracts on the installed Strobbe plate bending equipment in the US and that any future service would be facilitated through their service office in Belgium.
