Each of the gold winning printers will receive $20,000 to support their marketing and brand initiatives, as well as entry into the competition for Sappi International Printers of the Year 2012 awards. Sappi’s Printers of the Year awards recognize print excellence and innovation.

IF THIS magazine chose to hand out an award for the biggest newsmaker of the year, the 2008 honor would go to Quebecor World (QW), hands down. One might contend that the attention, while merited, is not the type of exposure a company would want: Financing issues, trying to sell an unprofitable venture and muddling through with bankruptcy in two countries. But Quebecor World is a printer for our economic times, the No. 2 in North America at a time when market leaders (Circuit City, AIG, Lehman Bros.) have come crashing down.

MINNEAPOLIS—Bolger Vision Beyond Print has completed the acquisition of fellow Twin Cities printer Diversified Graphics. According to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Star Tribune, Bolger was the winning bidder at $10 million for the assets of Diversified, a deal approved by a U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

Bolger Completes Acquisition of Diversified Graphics

MINNEAPOLIS—August 12, 2008—Bolger Vision Beyond Print, a Minneapolis-based printing and communications company, today completed the acquisition of Diversified Graphics, Inc., a Minneapolis provider of high end commercial printing for 60 years. The previously announced agreement includes the purchase of virtually all the assets of Diversified Graphics.
